THIS IS WHERE WE SEE YOU
You are in a swimming pool, out of your depth, and you can't swim. At the same time, you are struggling to keep your head above water because your fear is that you will finally go under. And as you try to stay afloat you struggle even harder, and the struggle exhausts even more because, for you, it is all about surviving each moment of fear.
OR
You are now lost in a dark frightening forest and you can't see any way out. And your thinking is, "if only I can retrace my steps and exit the way I came in." However, the way out is not retracing your steps. In fact, the only way out is to continue on through the forest, come out the other side, move on with your life, and leave the forest behind you. (Your symptoms)
We know from personal experience what a frightening place it is to be in. However, it is not in the least bit serious medically. We also know, to your way of thinking, the more it frightens the more serious it must be. However, we repeat once more, frightening yes, serious, definitely not. Indeed the worse you feel, the further away recovery seems. (Yes, we even know this)
SO WHAT NOW?
You probably have come to realise through our website that we have an understanding of your suffering, and you could be thinking "this is my last hope" and then that "voice of doubt" that every sufferer has says, "this approach might work for others but what if it doesn't work for me, what then? Because all hope will be lost" and that doesn't bear thinking about does it?
Once more you are allowing fear to rule your life. It is only fear of failure that stops sufferers from reaching out for the help that we offer.
Membership of our group will give you access to a non-clinical program that is simple and gentle in its approach. Step by step it comforts, encourages, supports and directs the sufferer on his or her journey to complete recovery.
Do not begrudge what you have been going through, because suffering like yours in many ways is a privilege. If you recover the right way:
- You will end up with an inner confidence you never had;
- You will have great compassion towards other sufferers; and
- You will look back on what you went through, and see it as an incredible learning experience.
Actually, there is no mystery about "the anxiety state", it is so easily explained, and we refuse to complicate something that is not complicated in the first place.
The purpose of this site is to give you the understanding you need to recover and get on with your life. Don't let fear stop you from reaching out for the right help. In other words, don't think. Instead, reach out for yourself.
About us
Anxiety Free International (AFI), owns and runs the Freedom From Fear Group. AFI is a not-for-profit company, known as a community interest company. We have to satisfy our regulators that what we do benefits the community. Our Articles of Association can be found here.
We are run by anxiety and ex-anxiety sufferers, our mission is to help you to recover. We run it on a not-for-profit basis because those of us that have found our way to a recovery method that works want to have the opportunity to give something back to others. We know what the hell of anxiety can be like and we want to help you through it.
There are a lot of people around the world making large amounts of money out of anxiety sufferers, by providing them with treatments that simply do not work.
We have no shareholders. Money that comes into our organisation can only be used for the purposes for which it was set up (to help sufferers).
To give you confidence in who we are, we want to be transparent about how we work and where your membership fee goes:
- When you become a member of the Freedom From Fear Recovery Group your membership fee will go primarily to two places. Firstly, to provide services to anxiety sufferers. Primarily we will use your membership fee to keep this site up and running, to develop it, promote it and run Anxiety Free International CIC. Any other funds will be used to develop more ways of offering services to anxiety sufferers.
- Secondly, we pay a royalty fee to our program creator, for each of our members, so that we may license the program from him.
At the time of writing, we are run by volunteers. In time, as we expand, we may have to employ staff to help us run our services.
